03 Apr Temporary Frost
Defrosting from the winter’s breath
A gloss upon on piney meadow
Foliage confused for growth
A leaf alive, a petal dead
Defrosting from the winter’s bed
Flying through spring winds
Wings collecting pollen things
Mate has fallen from the nest
Winter frost has done her best
Branches from the weeping willow
Blossom a dozen yellow flowers
And pink cascades the forest floor
Where winter mist appears no more
But the rain storms
while the thunder bellows
Echoing in alleyways
And the sun of summer shines in spring but the forecast calls for winter snow.
